thanx to justin kosman for the shots and the easpn interview
A few years ago, Caleb "The Hucker" Ruecker stayed at my house, and his feet smelled so bad that I gave him a new pair of shoes. It was on a Metal Bikes East Coast trip, and his former Metal teammates forced him to throw the old shoes away. Once in the new pair of shoes, Caleb stacked up clips and enjoyed the sights around the NYC area. That was 2006. Throughout the past few years, Caleb and myself have stayed in touch, and his riding (plus the rate at which he's acquired new tattoos) hasn't slowed down in the least. He's since left Metal for The Take, and has a few other hook-ups, including Draven Footwear and Gatorade. Recently, Caleb caught up with contributor Justin Kosman to fill in some blanks and fire out some rails. Check out what Caleb has to say, then take a mini-tour of Portland, Ore. with the biggest Mickey Mouse fan in BMX.
Interview by Justin Kosman.
The first thing I do every time I wake up is: be stoked that I'm alive, turn my music on, feed my fish and sesh some tea.
The next tattoo I'm finishing up is: my right arm and by the time you read this it will be done! It's a old school thing in the ditch of my arm. My whole right arm is trinkets of love, AKA lucky charms.
I predict that: the future is gonna be f'd, cause nobody knows what's gonna happen so just go have fun while you can.
All the rails in Portland: are perfect and has already been murdered by all riders including myself.
Caleb Ruecker
Rain in Portland: makes me up and down, but it is what it is and makes me happy to see green. That's what vacations are for.
Pegs are: the best and smartest thing BMX has made for this industry.
I don't: drink or do drugs because I'm smart and want a great future for myself. Plus it's a waste of time.
I had the most fun on a bike was when: I didn't have any sponsors or hook-ups, when I just rode to escape reality.
The last time I was scared was: when I was out shooting was with Justin Kosman.
One song that snaps me out of a Northwest Haze is: The Ramones "Needles and Pins." Such a great song!
If you want to find people riding: go to a skatepark.
I could watch rail grinds and double pegs all day because: I'm most comfortable with the simple things. I enjoy watching other riders throw down moves on rails cause I can actually see what it looks like and get to enjoy it.
The one trick that needs to go away in BMX is: tuck no-handers. Ughhhhh, gross.
I have a theory that: all dinosaurs will stomp this Earth once again, because that would be rad.
If I could ride with one person past, present or future it would be: my lil' brother Taylor who passed away in a tragic accident. RIP lil' homie, BMX will never die!
Yesterday: I was fishing with my dudes and caught six catfish, then went out with the lady.
I could write a book about: all the drunk, stupid, chaos acts of what alcohol does to people.

im back on!!
its been awhile since iv been on this so here is some of the latest news that has gone down.
-As of yesterday Im moving on from Draven Footwear.I would like to thank them for all there support over these past five or six years years. - Caleb "the Hucker" Ruecker
-Change is a hard thing to deal with. It can be a scary thing, but for progression to occur, sometimes things need to change. Alot has been occuring for The Take right now as you might have heard on some riding sites. The first change is that I am now the new team manager. Second the team now only has 4 pro riders, and now we have a flow team. With this change, I say with a heavy heart so long to Spam, Caleb, and Tanner. Tanner decided to step down to make room for some new up and comers, and Nick decided to move on to new adventures. It is hard for me to see my friends leave with me just now coming into this position, but I wish the best of luck to all 3 of them and know they will be successful in all their future adventures. Also with me coming in, that means Alex is no longer the TM. With obvious hesitation, I took the new position. Alex wished me the best of luck for the job and has no hard feelings. I can't thank him enough, for I wouldnt even be in this situation without his help. But with this change, I have great expectations for the future. We already started updating the image, and plan for more to happen in the future. Don't want to give too much away, but I am excited for what the future holds for The Take.
